Herdict is a suite of applications that allows users around the world to help gather and share data to enable informed decision-making about PC health and open access to Internet information. Herdict for PC Health is a downloadable application that records data about a computer’s health, sends the data to a centralized server at the Berkman Center, and presents the aggregated data back to users. Herdict’s data will be a valuable research tool for StopBadware and other computer security researchers.

Herdict is founded on the principle of using the generativity of the internet to help solve some of the problems the internet has created. For more on the philosophy behind Herdict, see Professor Jonathan Zittrain’s work on generativity.

Herdict is a sister project of StopBadware at the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University.
