How can I keep from being infected with badware?

There are a number of ways to reduce your risk of becoming infected with badware. What is important to note is that none of them are foolproof, and you can achieve the best measure of protection by taking multiple precautions.

Here are several important reminders to help reduce your risk of infection:

   •  Be careful to only download software from sites you trust
   •  Keep your operating system, browser, and anti-virus software up to date
   •  Be cautious when clicking on pop-up advertisements
   •  Whenever downloading software, read the license agreement and policies carefully

In addition to these measures, you may also want to download and run an anti-badware program for protection. We’ve provided below several links to reviews of anti-badware applications.
