Regaining Control of Our Computers

How can I help?

There are number of ways that you can help halt the spread of badware on the internet. The first step is to be a conscientious browser and to think carefully before installing any software on your computer.

If you're more technically savvy, you can submit a complaint through our technical report form, which will help us to identify new applications to investigate and report on. If you're less technically savvy, but still want to tell us how badware is ruining your computing experience, you can tell us your story, which will help us publicize the badware problem and bring pressure to bear on appropriate parties.

It's also quick and easy to file a complaint with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The FTC handles complaints about deceptive or unfair business practices. To file a complaint, visit http://www.ftc.gov/ and click on "File a Complaint Online," call 1-877-FTC-HELP, or write to:

Federal Trade Commission
CRC-240
Washington, D.C. 20580

If your complaint is against a company in another country, you can file it at http://www.econsumer.gov/

If you are concerned that you may have downloaded badware, read about how to get rid of it.
